Trunk Café, on Wurundjeri Country

I arrived at this particular eatery just after lunch hoping they would have an all day breakfast menu to satisfy my egg craving. No such luck for me. I asked the lovely waitress whether she thought I should have the nachos or the mac and cheese and she said, "OH, definitely the mac and cheese." My tastebuds and stomach were not disappointed!

By the time I'd started sketching, the place had almost emptied of all its lunch crowd. This was fine with me because I was far too self-conscious to draw in public - in fact, I nearly abandoned the whole idea of this project entirely! This might seem small to you, but this was a little bit of a mental battle for me. I had to tell myself that there is going to be a time in my life in a few years when I'll look back and say, "Why, oh why, Amy, didn't you draw at every chance you could? Why did you care so much about what people would think of you?" I had to remind myself that I had already overcome my self-consciousness. Now I have the time and freedom to refine my skills and experiment with new ideas for projects such as these.
